"From early spring to late fall, the light in the Oval Office is fairly consistent with the sun high above the horizon during the day. But during the winter months, the sun is lower and splashes through the back window in the early morning and late afternoon. Here, in the midst of the morning light, the President talks on the phone with British Prime Minister David Cameron." (Official White House Photo by Pete Souza)

Via Flickr:
Why do I post more than 108 Buddha Quotes? Buddha talks from “There” to “Here”. His words are messages for all seekers to remember “There”.
Those who experienced “There” realized the truth of his words and even if they fall back into “Here” they praise the truth and call it the “Key to Heaven”.
Loving kindness, the open heart is the needle eye to Paradise. Are you looking for ascension? Buddha says it very clear: “All you need is Love.”

Ruth and the Bear - 1972

Via Flickr:
My Grandmother Ruth and a curious black bear taking a good look at each other. This was at a place called Bear Skin Lodge in Minnesota. I guess the bear wasn't aware of the name...

** Some notes about my grandmother**

Ruth (my grandmother) decided at a young age that she was going to see the world, have adventures, and not let any damn fool get in her way. She started off by becoming stewardess on TWA's DC-2s and DC-3s in the 1930s. There she met and eventually married a young pilot named Tommy Roscoe, my mother's father. Tommy was killed flying a PBY for the navy in 1942, and Ruth went back to work as a nurse to support herself and my infant mother.

Shortly after the end of World War II, she met an army photographer named Lon Wilson, who'd been badly wounded at Okinawa. They became married and Lonnie adopted my mother. Together they saw the world, with Ruth calling the shots and Lonnie taking the pictures.

Lonnie died in 1988, but Ruth continued to travel the world. In 1999, at the age of 84, she spent a week in Churchill, Canada, seeing the polar bears out on the tundra. A bad hip joint failure in 2000 forced her to stick to less strenuous trips, like a boat tour of the Rhine River in Germany, but she never stopped travelling and seeing the world. Until now.

Ruth passed away yesterday at the age of 91. A massive infection of an antibiotic-resistant bacterium brought down the strongest and most determined person I have ever known in just over a week. I admired the hell out of that lady and I'm sure going to miss her.

chase quite liked this and decided to help me to photoshop it. Television is like an old friend to a child of the 70's. It seems to still work. Beginning, middle, end. All in 30 minutes. Long Live the Sitcom despite being seen through the smudges on the screen made by the greasy hands of children.

One of my all time favourite songs...... sigh....... :-)

Sun is shinin' in the sky
There ain't a cloud in sight
It's stopped rainin' ev'rybody's in a play
And don't you know
It's a beautiful new day hey,hey

Runnin' down the avenue
See how the sun shines brightly in the city
On the streets where once was pity
Mister blue sky is living here today hey, hey

Mister blue sky please tell us why
You had to hide away for so long
Where did we go wrong?

Hey you with the pretty face
Welcome to the human race
A celebration, mister blue sky's up there waitin'
And today is the day we've waited for

Hey there mister blue
We're so pleased to be with you
Look around see what you do
Ev'rybody smiles at you

Mister blue sky, mister blue sky
Mister blue sky

Mister blue, you did it right
But soon comes mister night creepin' over
Now his hand is on your shoulder
Never mind I'll remember you this
I'll remember you this way

Mister blue sky please tell us why
You had to hide away for so long
Where did we go wrong?

Hey there mister blue
We're so pleased to be with you
Look around see what you do
Ev'rybody smiles at you
