Yep, school started this week. Are they excited? More about seeing their buds than anything lol. I'm sure we all felt the same at that age. After all, who gets excited about school work??

So I've had a lot of free time at night lately since I don't like to go to bars much, so I've been reading a bit more. I started reading "The perks of being a wallflower" the other day and ended up reading it in one sitting. I really loved it. I want to meet some one like Charlie. If any one has any suggestions of books I might like, I'd love to know.
I took this the other day. There was a big festival when we were in Copacabanna and they were selling confetti by the kilo, and I just finally had time to use it.
I'd hoped to get some Perseid meteors, but alas mostly clouds. But I thought the resulting movie was pretty interesting, a juxtaposition of the stately spinning of the stars around the pole with churning clouds racing by, along with the occasional aircraft flitting past. There is actually at least one meteor but it's frustratingly faint and appears on only one frame that's impossible to see in the movie.
Technical stuff: Nikon D300, 10-24mm@12mm, 920 frames, 30 second exposures each, f/5.6, ISO 800, rendered 30 frames/second. About 8 hours compressed into half a minute.
American swimmer who has, overall, won 16 Olympic medals: six gold and two bronze at Athens (2004) and eight gold at Beijing (2008). He has announced that he wants to compete in the 2012 Olympics although he admits that it will probably be his last Olympics performance.

These are scans of 35 mm prints I found in some old photo albums. The year is from 1986. Looking back at these I can't believe how young everyone looks! But that's about 25 years ago.
Check out the hair. Proof positive this is the 80's!

Tian Tian does his job at the National Zoo in DC on March 15th. This was the first day they let the 2 go at it. My previous pictures i uploaded showed the Sad Panda pose.. that was taken a few days BEFORE the 2 day sex adventure happened.
The 2nd day was raining most of the day so i didnt come back, but i feel i got enough photos of those beauties going at it.
I have seen the pandas do alot of things, and i was waiting for this moment and i finally got it! Yay for Panda sex!
While walking up the Pandas i could hear a very loud and unusual noise. As i got closer and saw the pandas i realized what it was, one of them was BLEATING! What a weird and disturbing noise, i thought they were hurt or scared but it was just them making sweet sweet panda porn.
Alot of kids at the zoo on this day, Spring break was happening and i've never seen so many kids (before the zoo was always dead because of the winter, it was so nice you could stroll through and only see 4 different people the whole day. You have to visit the zoo in the winter!) The kids all watched and smiled as they did their thing.

i’d like to get away from earth awhile
and then come back to it and begin over.
one could do worse than be a swinger of birches.
